Hello and welcome back to 30 for 30. We are into season 29 which i sincerely hope is the last one! We’ve been to Morton, Coventry, Motherwell, Palace, Man Utd back to Palace, Arsenal and Rangers. It took us 20 seasons to win a top trophy but then we won the lot in Glasgow. So let’s do this one final time and get to that coveted last screen on CM 97/98.
August
We make a good start to our final season. We make it into the Champions League Group Stage which is much better than last season. We also top the league at the early stage.
September/October
Got carried away and played 2 months. We still haven’t lost a game in normal time so far this season. Two stupid mistakes cost us 3 points against Celtic. 3 wins from 3 in Europe see us take control of the group. I turn down the Spain job as well. If it had been a few seasons earlier i would have taken it.
November
We go unbeaten in November. The 2 draws in Europe mean we need to get a result against Fenerbahce. Celtic have a new manager after their boss takes the Spain job.
December
We get the win we need in Europe to progress to the Quarter Finals where we will meet PSV. In the league we lose against my old club Motherwell which i must admit raised a smile from me.
January
We win 3 of our games 4-1 this month. Very odd. Aberdeen nick a point off us which takes them above Celtic in 2nd. We beat Kilmarnock to progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup.
February
We progress in the Cup but the 2 losses in the league are poor, poor performances. Aberdeen have cut the gap to just 2 points now.
March
Brilliant month with a 100% win record. We knock PSV out the Champions League to progress to the Semi Final. We move past Hearts to reach the Semi Final of the FA Cup as well. The win over Aberdeen derails them and we move 6 points clear at the top of the table.
April
Ok it’s getting serious now. We keep our 6 point lead at the top of the table. We beat Red Star in the Champions League Semi Final to set up a final with Inter Milan. We beat Aberdeen after a replay in the FA Cup to set up a final with Celtic once again.
May
Trophy number 1 in the bag.
Trophy number 1 is the only one we win as we run out of steam at the end. I couldn’t be happier ending this save with a League title though!
This save has been epic! It took us 20 seasons to win a top division trophy. The unforgettable treble with Rangers was the most amazing season we had. That first top title with Crystal Palace was amazing. Taking Morton to a European Quarter Final. Taking Motherwell from Division 3 to the Premier League and all those clubs inbetween. It’s been incredible but it will never happen again!
