AFC United – Part 27: You’ll win nothing with Giggs | @Matt_C_Wills

Here we are again, a new working week and a stellar cast of Champmaniacs hoping to help you through it. Leading the charge this Monday morning is Matt with AFC United. What can they win this season?

Happy Monday to you. It’s October, Billie Joe from Green Day has woken up, we’re creeping into autumn, and all the leaves are (David) Brown, but he’s still in the summer of his career.

We snared the fake treble last season, of Charity Shield, Uefa and League Cups, but I have a feeling we’re on the road to recovery.

AUGUST

No Charity Shield defense for us this season, so we’re straight into european action, and the Champs League qualifiers in Poland

AFC United – Part 26: The Fake Treble | @Matt_C_Wills

Happy Monday! Here’s Matt to kick off the week with a season review from AFC United

Welcome back to AFC United, a world where David Brown is a goal king and China are the new power in international football. We’re rolling into Season 10 with my new 4Matt giving you a whole season on a Monday morning.

We’ve won a lot of trophies the past few seasons, but my side is still relatively fresh and hungry for more, plus David Brown is edging towards 300 career goals, so that will be nice to achieve.

AUGUST

There’s not much news in the way of transfer activity, the squad is pretty settled and well balanced, although i should probably sell some fringe players to ease the bank balance. Despite our success, Broadhurst Park still only holds about 25,000. European money is keeping us afloat, like some sort of Peter Ridsdale business plan. Anyway, we kick off in familiar surroundings, in a decidedly larger stadium against FA Cup holders Chelsea

AFC United – Part 25: The Class of ’97 | @Matt_C_Wills

Good morning and happy Monday! It’s the same Matt but with a new forMatt. Enjoy…

Hello and welcome back to part 25 – just let that sink in for a moment – of AFC United. You know the story by now, a team of Alex Ferguson cast offs and future signings set about to rise from Division 3 to the peak and knock Fergie off the summit.

Over 8 seasons I think it’s fair to say we have done that, spearheaded by the goals of David brown and Erik Nevland, assisted by Notman, Blomqvist and Cooke, with Danny Hall and Andrew Duncan impervious in front of Peter Schemichel’s regen.

Last season we won the treble, emulating the Class of ’92. I wondered whether their story was done, but I was hooked – how many goals could David Brown get now he had reached the 250 mark. How long could Danny Hall carry on as my defensive rock?

I’ve decided there’s more of this story to tell, but the format will change. For 8 seasons I diligently took screenshots of every occurrence, but then just wanted to play, so the parts going forward now will be season recaps – so don’t look too closely at the dates in the top right corner – just trust me! Think of it like one of those season review videos you used to get in Birthdays….

AFC United – Part 24: Soon may the Wellens man come | @Matt_C_Wills

Good morning and happy Monday. Matt’s got trophies on his mind this week as the season clatters to an end…

You join me on this fine Monday morning with AFC United on the brink of football immortality. This band of Alex Ferguson Cast Offs are challenging on four fronts. What stands between us and the ultimate glory? Judging from last week, only Aston Villa….every time.

We’re 3pts clear of Man United in the league, but our action picks up in the knock out stages of the Champions League, away to Intern Milan in the quarter finals.

It’s a great advantage to take back home. Our centre-back pairing of Duncan and Hall keeping Ronaldo quiet, but letting Maurice give Inter some hope

AFC United – Part 23: Heroes and Villans? | @Matt_C_Wills

Happy Monday one and all. The International break may be front and centre but Matt is still here with your weekly dose of AFC United…

Good morning to you all – it’s back to school for many this week, but we’re always old skool here

Last time out we were making a good effort to wrestle back the Premier League title from Aston Villa but although we were 2nd, we’re 5pts adrift of Fergie’s revitalised United. Will this season be a tussle between the originals and the upstarts?

A reminder of how the table is looking

AFC United – Part 22: And to cap it Hall | @Matt_C_Wills

Happy Monday! It may be a bank holiday but there’s no rest for Matt as he’s back with a new season of AFC United. As ever, recruitment is the first order of the day…

Happy Bank Holiday Monday to you – I’m currently writing this up on Friday as news filters through that CR7 is rejoining United – by the time you read this, it may all be wrapped up, but it’s a variation of a United were interested in right now.

We head into Season 8 (!) as Champs of Europe but Chumps domestically. I played a bit fast and loose with my own rules last time out and stuck Peter Schmeichel’s regen in goal and it salvaged our season. A few people have retired, so here’s what we have at our disposal

AFC United – Part 21: Seventh Heaven? | @Matt_C_Wills

It’s a new week but as the summer holidays draw to a close, so does the 03/04 season for AFC United. Can Matt rescue a mediocre season?

Welcome back to our regular Monday morning journey through the ‘what if’ careers of ex-United players. We’re heading into the business end of Season 7 and our title defense is weaker than the weak lemon drink of a keen hobbyist.

Mid-table mediocrity is so uninspiring…

AFC United – Part 20: A Brown Streak | @Matt_C_Wills

Matt is back with the latest from AFC United as they look to improve on a poor start to their title defence…

The Premier League has kicked off, fans are back at matches – things seem a little more normal – for now at least, but back in 2003 AFC United are struggling to defend their title…

Here’s where we left things last week. Nevland was scoring all the goals – and missing all the penalties. At least we are above Fergie’s United.

AFC United – Part 19: Penalty Woes | @Matt_C_Wills

The summer is hurtling along, Euro2020(21) is fading, I’ve just finished 2 weeks of annual leave and the new season is upon us….now where was I?

Oh yes, AFC United – a band of ex-Man Utd players being the best that they can be.

As a very quick recap, we stormed to the Premier League in 3 seasons, fired by the goals of David Brown and Erik Nevland, taking 1st place in each season, and then we did the unthinkable and won the Premiership in our maiden season. We fell to 5th in the following season but recovered last season to pip Villa to the title.

In the cups, we were runners up in the League Cup in Season 2, but won the FA Cup in Season 3 as we gunned through Division 1. This took us into the CWC which we won in Season 4

Last season, we pipped Villa to the league title, but lost to them in the FA Cup Final, only to prevail in the Uefa Cup final to pick up our second european title in just six seasons.

Faithful stalwart, Alan Tonge, has hung up his boots with a clutch of winners medals and a special place in or hearts, so we head into Season 7 with high hopes having snagged a long term target…

AFC United – Part 18: Robert De Niro’s Waiting (Talking Italian) | @Matt_C_Wills

Happy Monday! For one last time this season, let’s see how Matt is getting on over at AFC United…

The Premier League might be over in reality, but for AFC United, it’s coming up for the end of Season 6 for my motley band of Man Utd alumni. In part 17 we got our act together to mount something resembling a title challenge and we’re still involved in the FA and Uefa Cups, and it’s on the FA Cup where the action picks up…

Derby are our opponents and if the question is David Brown, then they don’t have the answer
