Viking Invaders – Part 3

Andrew’s Rosenborg experiment is reaching an exciting finale. Nobody relishes the trip to Norway, especially in winter, but here we are in the spring and there’s the chance of European football – whether it be via league or cup…

Hello and welcome back to the final part of Viking Invaders Premier League Raiders. Last time out we had a mid-season melt down and couldn’t beg steal or borrow an away point. The whole idea of a Viking invasion was in chaos as we preferred our home comforts. But we had a late surge in form and have picked our way back to 5th place, 7 points from 2nd with Man Utd too far out of reach to be caught. *Searches for any kind of last-minute prize* at least we can say we are responsible for a third of Utd’s goals against column. A reminder of our run-in:

CM9798 Retirement Home – Part 2: Mighty Quinn

Greetings and welcome back to the Retirement Home. We’ve started a new club, purely set up to give professional footballers one more shot at glory. With a strict recruitment policy of players aged 35 and over, we’re out to prove speed isn’t everything. So far, things are going quite well, but a spiralling wage bill looks like it could be an issue. Here’s how the table looks as we rejoin the action (or you can view part 1 here):

Everything’s Coming up Mulhouse – Part 8

Bonjour! Welcome to Thursday, the new home of Mulhouse. After two seasons in the second tier of French football, today we start season 3 in the top tier. That sounds like it should be a good thing but there may be trouble ahead. For starters, we’re still the least desirable club to join in the world. I don’t know why, maybe Mulhouse was twinned with Sunderland or something but either way, I hope our stars of Ligue 2 can step up as there’s no help on the way. Catch up with the end of season two here.

Viking Invaders – Part 2

Rosenborg in the Premier League? The Viking invasion got underway last week and the Norwegian’s are acquitting themselves well in unfamiliar surrounds. How will the winter months work out? Catch up with part 1 here.

Hello and welcome back to Viking Invaders! Last time out we’d bolstered the squad with Norwegian talent and after a strong end of August-September we were hit with an injury to Svindal-Larsen and fell apart, crashing out the League Cup to Stockport. Our away form has been woeful, the travelling from Norway every other weekend taking its toll on the lads. Let’s take a look at the stats so far;

Viking Invaders – Part 1

KingOfTheRooks is back with a new series! It’s a little known fact that all of the Scandinavian teams are in the CM9798 database so Andrew has got his experimenting hat on. If you’ve ever wondered how Rosenborg would get on in the Premier League, you’re in for a treat…

Hello and welcome to the latest experiment, Viking Invaders!

Rosenborg BK won thirteen consecutive Norwegian titles from 1992 to 2004 and also qualified for the Champions’ League group stages on eight consecutive occasions between 1995-96 and 2002-03. In 1996-97 they reached the quarterfinals, bowing out to Juventus. The question is, how would a team of such dominance cope in the Premier League? Let us find out… (The unfortunate victims to this act of heresy are Southampton who have been demoted to non-league where they will join Rosenborg 2, our B team).

We’ll also look to bring in some of the keenest talent from across the North-Sea to bolster our assault on the Premier League.

Everything’s Coming up Mulhouse – Part 5

Bonjour! Welcome to season two. In season one, we were so close to everything coming up Mulhouse. Statistically the worst team in French Ligue 2, we overcame a tricky start to go flying up the league and give ourselves an outside chance of promotion. Then it all went tits up and we failed. How do we bounce back? Well, I’ve vowed to solve our dodgy defence and with Sritong-In and Vareille sticking around to score the goals, finding a goalkeeper who doesn’t have crisp packets for hands should be the key to success. Let’s get into season two.
